The size (40) was perfect. I have always gotten a 39 in Birkenstocks...my toes seemed too close to the edge, so I ordered the 40 , which is just perfect. I wear these all summer. Some of the reviews say you have to break them in, but I had no problem. Put them on the day they arrived and didn't have a sore toe from the thong. The quality is suberb...love the leather and the footbed. I would not hesitate to buy these even if you think they are pricey. They are well worth it.
